Now that da coach, Mike Ditka, has decided not to become a candidate for U.S. senator, perhaps the Illinois Republican Party should set its sights on yet one more Ryan–former Bears defensive coordinator Buddy Ryan (“Ditka punts on possible GOP run for U.S. Senate; Search continues for new candidate,” Metro, July 15).
