I am a native Chicagoan. I love this city. I applaud and support Mayor Richard Daley’s ambition to make this the greenest city. But a recent experience is enough to send me packing. I encountered a police roadblock a few blocks from my home. Were they checking for drunk drivers? No. Drug sellers? No. They were writing $25 tickets for dangerous criminals who were not wearing their seatbelts. What a bald-faced scam to plunder hardworking citizens in the name of safety. It is just plain robbery.
