Pack up the straightening iron. Toss the silicon serums. And do not waste a penny of your fashion allowance on scary Japanese hair-straightening systems. This summer, it’s all about wavy, Stevie Nicks-style, free- flowing tresses.
“The beachy, nouveau-grunge look really worked with the clothes and the mood [of the DKNY fashion show],” said Bumble and Bumble’s Jimmy Paul of the wavy tresses that he created for Donna Karan’s spring/summer fashion show. “The designer wanted the hair to look like the way a girl looks when she leaves the house with her hair wet and uncombed, trying to grab a cab. … I think most women love to feel like they have a lot of hair. It has a natural, undone feel.”
Whether your hair is thin, thick, naturally straight or already wavy, you can create the requisite “I’ve just been to St. Tropez” look with the hair tools du jour.
