Anthony “Tony” J. Bucher, age 78, died on Aug. 2, 2004 at his residence in Venice, FL. Born in Chicago, IL on Aug. 24, 1925. He married his loving wife of 52 years, Irene Conway, on Jan. 12, 1952. He worked as an engineer for Fel-Pro Inc. before retiring in 1990 and moving to Venice, FL in 2000. He was of the Catholic faith and was a parishioner of Epiphany Cathedral in Venice, FL. He was a member of the American Legion and of the Capri Isle Gulf Club and was active in the Capri Isle Condo Association. He is survived by his wife, Irene C. Bucher of Venice, FL; daughters, Mary B. Kloet of Bettendorf, IA and Ann B. Mertes of Arlington Heights, IL; sons, Stephen Bucher of Lisle, IL, John Bucher of Chicago, IL and Mark Bucher of Arlington Heights, IL; sister, Mrs. Kay Sullivan of Hoffman Estates, IL; brother-in-law, John Conway and his wife, Marge, of Chicago; sister-in-law, Madeline Chitko of Jacksonville Beach, FL; grandchildren, Kathleen and Paul Kloet, Josh, Abby and Jordan Mertes, Michael, Matt, Ashley, Ben, Kelly, Hannah, Kevin and Heather Bucher. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, Aug. 7, 2004 at 1 p.m. at Epiphany Cathedral in Venice, FL. Memorial donations may be made in his name to the Hospice of Southwest Florida, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238 or the Epiphany Cathedral Church Fund, 310 Sarasota St., Venice, FL 34285.
