I am a patriotic American abroad, suffering today’s worldwide negativity toward the United States and Americans. Masses of people, regardless of ideology or religion, today are anti-American, having fully realized that the U.S. did not go to Iraq in defense or to liberate the country. Today we are considered selfish, greedy and heartless.
The world is confusing the idiosyncrasies of the U.S. establishment with the values of most of our people. The goodness of Americans is severely questioned.
I urge my often too nationalistic fellow citizens to understand why it is critical to rebuild positive relationships and regain our respect abroad.
Due to our current administration’s unilateral, righteous and arrogant approach, many of us Americans abroad are left afraid to show pride in our country. Most important, however, many hateful anti-American individuals worldwide are now highly susceptible to join so-called “terrorist” approaches against our nationals and nation.
None of our administration’s actions has made the U.S. safer. On the contrary. Everyone within the U.S. clearly must understand the severity and the self-serving nature of their actions, and the importance to change the course quickly.
We Americans can help make America and our nationals safer by simply electing a new president. It will show the world that we, too, don’t accept what is happening, and it will begin to diffuse more attacks against us.
