Kudos for your editorial supporting the consolidation of Illinois school districts. I live in a community where there are three districts to serve the kindergarten through 12th grade students. The schools are in chronic need of money for education, not administrative overhead.

As you rightly pointed out, imagine the savings generated by consolidation.

We moved here from Pennsylvania, where we had some of the best public educational facilities in the country. The district we lived in was responsible for grades K-12, and I think the children and the taxpayers were better served.

Taxpayers in this state should heed your advice. Perhaps when the focus is on educating the children and not on administrative staffs, Illinois will improve its educational standing when compared to other states.
