John F. Milliken, former resident of Winnetka, IL, East Blue Hill, ME and recently Pittsboro, NC, died on Friday, Aug. 6, 2004. Mr. Milliken was born in 1920 in East Blue Hill, ME to Dr. Seth M. Milliken and Alida K.L. Milliken. He graduated from St. George’s School in Newport, RI and Yale University in New Haven, CT. He served in WWII as an Officer in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1946. In 1948 he was married to Elizabeth P. Willcox of Devon, PA. He worked in the insurance industry in Illinois and Maine. He was Vice President of Alexander & Alexander, Inc. in Chicago when he retired. Mr. Milliken served on the Board of Directors of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and as a trustee of St. George’s School for many years. In Maine he was elected as Commodore of the Kollegewidgwok Yacht Club for two terms and served on the Board of Directors of the Blue Hill Memorial Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; and their children, Amelia P.M. Rowell, John F. Milliken Jr., M.D., Mark W. Millen, Scott McL. Milliken and Alida L.M. Zimmerman; his 14 grandchildren; and one great- grandchild. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Memorial Services will be held Sept. 10 in Blue Hill, ME. Arrangements with Walker’s Funeral Home, Chapel Hill, NC.
