I recently heard a Republican spin-master use the phrase “the dreaded L word.”
What’s wrong with being a liberal? The dictionary describes a liberal as “having, expressing or following political views or policies that favor civil liberties, democratic reforms and the use of government power to promote social progress.”
In our history there have been many liberal causes, such as Social Security, the 40-hour workweek and Medicare, to name a few.
I doubt if many Americans would question that we, as a nation, are better because these policies went forward.
