Alicia Keys may be enjoying the success of her single, “Diary,” but others have had quite enough of it.
Fans keep calling the phone number Keys refers to in the song (489-4608)–but they don’t find the R&B star on the other end of the line.
Instead, they’ll find Rudy Diaz, a Melrose Park resident who told RedEye he gets called about three times a week on his cell phone with an 847 area code asking for Keys.
The number used to be Keys’ when she lived in New York, according to her publicist. If fans call that number, with a 347 area code, they’ll hear a recorded message from Keys, who warns that although she “can’t always call back,” she still does “appreciate the love.” The mailbox was full when RedEye called last night.
