Mildred Alice Arch, nee Parker, 93, of Oak Brook, beloved wife of the late Charles; loving mother of Janet (Robert) Janess, David (Suzanne) and the late Patricia Green; dear grandmother of nine; devoted great-grandmother of 12; fond sister of the late Genevieve Parker; dear sister-in-law of Jenny Frederick; fond aunt of Duane Arch, Steven Frederick and Shari Janik. No visitation. Funeral 10:30 a.m. Saturday from Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55th St., Countryside, to St. John of the Cross Church, Western Springs, for Mass at 11:15 a.m. Private entombment, Queen of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Thomas Hospice, 8230 S. Madison St., Burr Ridge, IL 60527 appreciated. Mrs. Arch was born in Gilman, IL on Oct. 15, 1910. After graduating from the University of Illinois, she taught English at Gilman High School. In 1935 she married Charles Arch, who later founded Oak Brook-based Blistex, Inc. They moved to Western Springs in 1940, where they raised three children. In 1972, Charles and Mildred moved to The Oak Brook Club. Mildred was an avid bridge player, and won many awards, including Life Master Status in duplicate bridge. She was a warm and caring person, much loved by family and friends. 708-352-6500 .
