Marjorie Roberts, 87, of Grand Beach, Michigan, formerly of Chicago, passed away Wednesday, August 11, 2004 at the University of Chicago Hospital. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 12 Noon, Monday at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church in New Buffalo. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Sommerfeld-Smith Funeral Home, New Buffalo. 269-469-2233 with liturgical prayers recited at 4:30 p.m. Mrs. Roberts was born December 28, 1916 in Chicago to Thomas and Pearl (Kenny) Cox. On September 22, 1935 she married Vernon Roberts in Chicago. Marjorie was a member of St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church and the Grand Beach Social Club. Mrs. Roberts is survived by five children, Diane DeKuyper of Grand Beach, Nancy Roberts of Michigan Shores, John (Nancy) Roberts of Grand Beach, Dorothy (Michael) Chervinko of Tinley Park, IL, Charles (Petrina) Roberts of Williamsville, New York; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Vernon on January 12, 1989.
