It took a little while for archer Stephanie White-Arnold to find her target. Though the Indiana native’s parents were competitive archers, she didn’t take up the sport until after college. She says her father–and coach–“kept spurring me on and encouraging me. I competed in my first national tournament in July 2001 and finished 18th. I thought, maybe I’ll shoot in national tournaments and see where it goes from there.” It’s led to Athens, where White-Arnold placed 36th in the ranking rounds with a score of 623 in the 72-arrow event. She’ll compete Sunday in the individual elimination rounds.
