In an interview with the Philadelphia Inquirer, Flyers star Jeremy Roenick acknowledged he was a client of a Florida sports-gambling operation under investigation and had bet on sports for years. But the former Blackhawk disputed the $100,000 figure authorities said Roenick has paid National Sports Consultants, saying he had paid the Ft. Myers, Fla.-based operation much less for tips. He said his total bets were between $50,000 and $100,000. Roenick said he stopped gambling in January after a warning from Flyers general manager Bob Clarke. After the FBI raided the gambling service in April, investigators started asking questions about Roenick. They found no evidence he had bet on hockey.
