Invented by a surfer and marketed to athletes, it’s strong enough for stiletto wearers too.

It’s BodyGlide Anti-Friction Skin Formula. This lubricant in a deodorant-type stick prevents chafing when applied to heels, toes or any other hot spots, without blocking perspiration or breaking down wet-suit neoprene. (It’s petroleum-free.) Stores such as EMS carry it, but the buyers aren’t just rustic outdoorsmen.

“Probably 55 percent of our end users are women,” said BodyGlide President Bill Sternoff. Some have written to him, saying they wear plus-sizes and use BodyGlide between their thighs to prevent their skin from rubbing raw–a problem that had kept them from wearing skirts or exercising. Bodyglide is $6.99 at EMS (888-463-6367).
