A Chicago-bound flight from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport in Arlington, Va., was evacuated Saturday after a Middle Eastern man abruptly got off the plane, officials said.

The plane and the airport concourse were evacuated, and all passengers were rescreened, said Amy Von Walter, a Transportation Security Administration spokeswoman. The passenger was found but couldn’t be questioned immediately because he didn’t speak English. He was eventually released.

LORI HACKING REMEMBERED: Family and friends of Lori Hacking gathered Saturday in Orem, Utah, to remember the woman authorities believe was slain by her husband while she slept. About 600 people attended the service, including her parents and the parents of her husband, Mark, who has been charged with her murder. Police have been searching a landfill for her remains.

“PASSION” CONFESSOR SENTENCED: Dan Leach II, 21, who said “The Passion of the Christ” led him to confess to killing his girlfriend, was sentenced in Richmond, Texas, on Friday to 75 years in prison. He said he killed Ashley Nicole Wilson, 19, because she was pregnant and he did not want to have anything to do with her or his unborn child.

FLEEING THE FIRE: An out-of-control 7,600-acre wildfire struck an old mining town in Northern California on Sunday, destroying 20 homes and forcing nearly 300 residents to flee, officials said. Nearly 100 homes and 20 other buildings were threatened in French Gulch, about 20 miles east of Redding.

INMATES AID JAIL HOSTAGE: Inmates helped rescue a guard taken hostage by four other inmates at the Charlottesville-Albemarle Regional Jail on Saturday, ending a four-hour standoff, officials said. Two unidentified guards taken hostage, ages 25 and 70, suffered bruises and contusions in the standoff early Saturday.
