Only 4 feet 11 inches yet one of only four men to lift three times his body weight, Halil Mutlu won his third consecutive weightlifting gold medal at 123 pounds with another overpowering performance. His career in doubt two years ago after a torn rotator cuff and ruptured biceps tendon, Mutlu joined Turkish predecessor Naim Suleymanoglu and Greece’s Pyrros Dimas and Khaki Kakiasvilis as three-time weightlifting gold medalists. Both Greek lifters go for their fourth consecutive golds later in the Athens Games.
