Beauty queen Queen Latifah is proud of her curves. The actress, singer and spokeswoman for Curvation, a line of intimate apparel created for curvaceous women, will be seen strutting her stuff in the “Barbershop” spinoff “Beauty Shop,” scheduled for a Nov. 24 release. Although Queen Latifah has slimmed down a bit in recent years, she says it was in an effort to get healthier, not to conform to the show-biz obsession with weight.

You had breast-reduction surgery a couple of years ago. Was this to fit into the Hollywood definition of glam or was it for health reasons?

It was strictly for health reasons. I’ve said all along that I’m proud of who I am. I had the surgery and then lost some weight all because I wanted to be healthier.

So, are you on a tofu and seaweed diet?

Not, even! I don’t really diet. I work out and just try to eat right. I’m never going to be a size zero, and to tell you the truth, that’s never been my goal. Beauty comes in all shapes and sizes, and you just have to do what’s best for you.

How do you feel about Hollywood’s obsession with weight?

I think it’s very unhealthy, but it’s not something I see changing. There’s this perception that you have to be a certain size to make it. I think I’ve proven that isn’t true.
