Anna L. Heppner, 90, of Gold Canyon, AZ and formerly of Glenview, IL, passed away on Saturday, August 14, 2004. She was born March 6, 1914 in unincorporated Northfield Township, IL to the late Louis and Emma Gerken. She was graduate of New Trier High School. She married Arthur F. Heppner in 1936. He passed away in 1972. Anna worked as a telephone operator for Illinois Bell in the 1940’s and early 1950’s. She then was employed by the Glenview Public Schools in the office Westbrook School from the time it opened until mid 1972 when she retired. Anna was lifelong member of St. Peter Community Church in Northbrook. Prior to relocating to Arizona she was very active in senior activities in Glenview. She is survived by her two sons, Ron (Glorianna) of Gold Canyon, AZ and Jim (Brenda) of Abilene, TX; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren (including her namesake Anna Heppner); and one great-great-granddaughter. She is also survived by her sister, Kathryn Goettsche of Arlington Heights, IL. In addition to her husband and parents, she is predeceased by her sisters, Vernette and Esther Gerken and Eleanor Frost as well as two grandchildren. Services will be held on Friday, August 20, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter Community Church, 2700 Willow Road, Northbrook, IL. There will be a visitation preceding the funeral at 9:30 a.m. in the church. Interment will be in Ridgewood Cemetery, 9900 N. Milwaukee Avenue, Des Plaines, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Peter Community Church, 2700 Willow Road, Northbrook, IL 60062.
