Dorothy “Bumpy” Thompson, 84, of Northbrook, IL, passed away Monday, Aug. 16, 2004 peacefully in her sleep. She was born Sept. 10, 1919, daughter of Harry Canfield and Dorothy Reed in New York, NY. Dorothy was a retired school teacher, former Naval Officer in WWII, and a graduate of Northwestern University. She survived her husband, Roy, by 35 years; and was a cherished mother, grandmother, treasured community activist, tutor and dog lover. Her three daughters, Dorothy, Louise and Elizabeth; and six grandchildren, Meredith, Lauren, Lindsey, Valerie, Adam and Donald are offering visitation Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at The Hanekamp Funeral Home, 385 Waukegan Rd.
