I look forward to the winter Olympics for the marvelous ice skating and the summer games for the skill and fluidity of the gymnastic events, but again I am being reminded that the “expert” commentators for each of these sports are a major irritant. In particular the instantaneous observations, especially commenting on the athletes’ flaws as they are happening, mar the event, making one run for the mute button.
