Harold E. Schober, 90 years young, born April 25, 1914, a lifetime resident of the Chicago area, died August 21, 2004. Harold grew up in Chicago, and attended school in Chicago. Harold married his wife, December 12, 1935, and were together until the day he passed away. Early in his life he worked for WGN and had his own orchestra known as “The Shaw Orchestra”. Harold took his orchestra around the tri-state area playing for many events and functions. Harold retired in 1979, but has kept his membership to the Musicians Union until his death. Since retiring, Harold enjoyed going for his daily coffee with his friends, fishing in Lake Michigan, and feeding the park birds everyday of his life. Harold is survived by Edith; their three sons, Herbert (Marina) of Elgin, Clifford (Virginia) of Prospect Heights, and Leslie (Denise) of Michigan, and one daughter, Susan of Lisle; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; niece and nephews included. Harold loved the Chicago Cubs, playing the organ and his family. His family joined him this year at home on his 90th birthday to play for one of his last times. The family would like to thank their father for the memories and the music he gave each of us. Dad we will miss you dearly. The Funeral Service will be Wednesday, Aug. 25 at 11:30 a.m. at Colonial-Wojciechowski Funeral Home, 8025 W. Golf Rd., Niles. Harold will be buried by his parents and his beloved sister, Joan Eagle Schober at Memorial Park Cemetery in Skokie.
