After reading Steve Rosenbloom’s “Out Loud” with Curt Schilling on Aug. 15, I wonder if Mr. Schilling is willing to put his money where his mouth is. He sounds like a dedicated family man who has wonderful values and cares about those he loves. But I also think Mr. Schilling is full of hot air.

Here is a man who last year earned (and I use the term lightly) more money than 90-plus percent of Americans will earn in a lifetime saying, “Money is probably one of the most overrated things in the history of mankind.” If he finds money overrated, why doesn’t he donate a year’s salary to those who need it most: local public schools. I’m sure the city of Boston could use Mr. Schilling’s “overrated” millions to meet the needs of the students of its schools.

And while he’s feeling so generous, I welcome him to send East Maine School District 63 in Illinois some money. I know the 31 students in my classroom could use an “overrated” donation.
