John R. Lewish, Ph.D., 88, born Dec. 27, 1915 in Ottawa, KS, the son of John D. Lewis and Anna Charlotte Haworth Lewis. John was Senior Scientist in the Dept. of Drugs at the AMA, Chicago. He was a member of several Medical Professional Societies and was listed in several biographical books such as Who’s Who in the Midwest. His other interests included music, gardening, nature photography and conchology, involving him in multiple organizations and clubs. He is survived by his wife, Esther Moffatt Lewis, presently of Sugar Hill, Dalton, MA; three daughters, Charolette Amodeo of Castleton, NY, Joan Mayer of Clarksville, TN and Elsie Holley of Riverton, IL; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. There will be no service as his remains will be interred at a later date in Ottawa, KS. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association for Research at 800-272-3900.
