Lleyton Hewitt tuned up for the U.S. Open by defeating Luis Horna 6-3, 6-1 in the TD Waterhouse Cup final at Commack, N.Y., for his second straight ATP title.

Hewitt, seeded fourth in the Open, has won 10 straight matches. Horna, seeded ninth at Commack and seeking his first ATP title, committed 32 unforced errors.

Hewitt, the 2001 U.S. Open champion, closed the match with his 12th ace.

– Hewitt and Lindsay Davenport, who has won her last four tournaments, could earn up to $500,000 extra at the U.S. Open because they finished atop the inaugural US Open Series standings.

– Camille Pin was chosen to replace Sandrine Testud in the U.S. Open main draw after Testud pulled out due to an injured right foot.
