Eloise H. Taylor was born in Wyco, West Virginia on November 11, 1925 to the late John Hal Jones and Hattie Nickens. She married her sweetheart Edward “Odell” Taylor at the age of 17, shortly after her high school graduation. Her six children are, Ronald Taylor (Chicago, IL), Reginald Taylor, wife Emma (Houston, TX), Regina Jamison (Oak Park, IL), Russell Taylor, wife Josie (Los Angeles, CA), Rosalyn Haynes (Chicago, IL) and Rhonda I. Butler, husband Earnest (formerly of Oak Park – now in Hazel Crest, IL). Mrs. Taylor has ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law; and six sisters-in-law. Eloise worked at Illinois Bell Telephone (k/n/a AT&T) for 31 years as a long-distance operator. The office was located at 212 W. Washington Blvd. in downtown Chicago. She had been a faithful member of Christ Universal Temple Church located on Chicago’s south side since 1979. Eloise was a counselor, a lender, a supporter and a giver. Her shy smile and positive words were the magnets that drew people to her. After a long bout with Dementia/Alzheimer’s disease, Eloise passed quietly on Wednesday, August 25, 2004. The wake and funeral will be held on Wednesday, September 1, 2004 at Leak and Sons Funeral Home, 18400 South Pulaski Rd., in Country Club Hills at 6:30 a.m. and 8 p.m. respectively. The burial procession will leave Leak and Sons Funeral Home, located at 7838 S. Cottage Grove Ave. in Chicago at 10 a.m., Thursday, September 2, 2004.
