A developer from Oak Brook is planning to build an office and self-storage complex on a site that had been a dumping ground for construction debris and other waste.

The 9-acre property is on the north side of Main Street, about a quarter-mile west of Illinois Highway 83. It had been an eyesore and a dumping ground for rocks, rusted trailers, garbage and construction debris.

The former owners were ordered to remove the debris and clean the site after the village sued several years ago. The work was completed in 2002.

Oak Brook-based Harp Group’s complex would have eight buildings, including three 19,000-square-foot office buildings and four 150-unit, self-storage buildings. Another building would have a small air-conditioned office with 200 self-storage units.

The storage buildings would be leased to a self-storage business by the developer.
