Naperville police are investigating the attempted armed robbery of a 65-year-old man near the Riverwalk.

Two men were sitting near Centennial Beach about 12:30 p.m. Saturday when the Naperville man walked past. The suspects then followed the man to a wooded area of the Riverwalk south of Jefferson Avenue and confronted him with a black semiautomatic handgun.

When another man walked into the area, the suspects fled south along the Riverwalk, police said. They were last seen on foot near Jackson Avenue and West Street.

Both men were described as in their late teens, one about 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 9 inches tall, a slender build, wearing a red bandana and a white shirt. The second man is described as 6 feet or taller, slender build wearing either a blue bandana or a dark hooded jacket, police said.
