Gladys Hellen Williams, July 16, 1927 to August 31, 2004, died peacefully on Tuesday at Rosewood Care Center of Elgin. She was born on July 16, 1927 in Morinville, Alberta, Canada to Charlotte and Claude Daymond. She served in the Canadian Army prior to her marriage in 1949. A U.S. resident since 1956, she worked in the restaurant industry most of her life. In her later years, she enjoyed housesitting and babysitting for vacationing families. Survivors include her daughter, JoAnne (Carl) Papp; one grandson, Eric Papp; and one brother, Jim (Barb) Daymond of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Gerald Giba; and her brother George Daymond. A Memorial Service wil be held at Light of Christ Church, 100 Hanson Rd., Algonquin on Sunday, September 5, at 1:30 p.m.
