Hats off to the young man wearing a Ryne Sandberg shirt, who sat in the upper deck at the Aug. 28 Cubs-Houston game and caught the foul ball that came off of Moises Alou’s bat in the second inning. What a priceless souvenir! You can be sure he wanted to keep it, and it was rightfully his to keep.

Yet, after holding his prize for only a moment, this classy Cubs fan turned it into a never-to-be-forgotten memory for someone else–the little girl sitting in front of him, who was eagerly holding up a homemade “Alou” banner.

When he handed that ball to her, there’s little doubt that his generous act instantly made another lifetime Cubs fan.

Well done!
