During this past week’s GOP convention, it would have been nice to hear speeches that focused on issues not related to John Kerry’s military service and his supposed unfitness to govern the nation during a time of war. It would have been nice to hear George W. Bush and Dick Cheney speak about how they plan to remedy the nation’s ailing economy, to protect the environment from corporate interests, and to get us out of a costly war in Iraq. To bring up these topics, however, is to acknowledge the legitimacy of their critics’ complaints.
Americans cannot afford to keep George W. Bush in the White House for another four years.
