The answer to your “Taking the war to the enemy” editorial is obvious: “Pre-empting” non-threats such as Iraq does nothing to make us safer.
In fact, such actions make us less safe by creating threats where they didn’t exist before and getting thousands of people (including members of our armed forces) needlessly killed. (Not to mention tying down large numbers of our armed forces so that they cannot respond to real threats when they occur.)
President Bush has proved that he will rashly go wherever his gut tells him to, regardless of whether the facts suggest the course of action is wise.
Is this really what you want to go on record as supporting?
