Maureen Malone, R.N., and former Director of Nursing for over 30 years on northwest side of Chicago nursing facilities before her retirement, passed away at her home peacefully on Monday, Sept. 6, 2004 at age 69. She had undergone a courageous fight against lung cancer and the subsequent treatments for the past year and a half. Maureen was the beloved daughter of Mrs. Ellen Heafey (the late Michael J. Heafey); beloved spouse and dearest friend for 46 years to John J. Malone Sr.; loving sister of John J. (Katherine) Heafey and Eleanor (Dr. Nicholas) Burriesci; devoted mother of John J. Jr., Michael, Brian (Patty) and Maura (Kevin) Barron R.N., M.S.N.; dearest grandmother of seven, Megan, Callie, Kate, Shannon and Liam Malone, Mary Kate and Sean Barron; loving aunt of 12 nieces and nephews; and many cousins both in the U.S. and Ireland.
