Robert “Bob” Nelson passed away August 17 in the Hospice Unit at Hines VA. Mr. Nelson was born April 13, 1929 in Polk County, Wisconsin, the eldest son of William and Jeanette Nelson. He served in the Army and later settled in Madison, WI with his wife Thora. They later settled in Forest Park, IL. Bob was interested in community affairs and will be remember as a very dedicated Little League coach. He later worked with Arch International for many years and was dedicated to their mission. He was an avid reader of history and world events and travelled extensively, loved to garden and held a deep appreciation for nature. He is survived by his wife Donna Nowak; children Blenda (Michael) Caldwell, Robert and Erik (Wendy) and his grandchildren Charity, Corrielle, Chiana and Coren Caldwell, Tess and Emma Nelson and his brother Philip. A Celebratory Service is planned for September 16 at 7 p.m. at Unity Church of Oak Park. Memorial contributions would be appreciated for the Hospice at Hines VA.
