Arnold J. Vess, 82 years, of Aurora, IL died Thursday, September 1, 2004 at ProvenaMercy Center in Aurora, IL. He was born January 14, 1922 in Chicago, IL. The son of the late Arnold J. and Anna Vess. He served his country honorably with the US Army during World War II in the European Thater as a Medic. He attended Annunciation Catholic Church in Aurora, IL. He graduated with a degree in English from DePaul University in Chicago, IL. He spent his career in traffic management, his last job as a Freight Auditor for Virtual Transportation Management retiring in May 2004. He is survived by a daughter, Roseann (Jerry) Engeldorf of Houston, TX, a son, Thomas (Carolyn) Vess of Halifax, Nova Scotia; three grandchildren, Leah Engeldorf, Gregory and Matthew Vess; two sisters, Lorraine Bauers of Oak Lawn, IL, Ruth (Walter) Wentzel of Tucson, AZ and by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Nancy Roase, nee Mooney Vess, and a son Matthew Patrick Vess. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 10, 2004, from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the McKeown-Dunn Funeral Home, Ltd. & Cremation Services at 210 S. Madison Str., in Oswego, IL. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 11, 2004 at 10 a.m. at Annuciation Church at 1820 Church Rd in Aurora, IL. Cremation will take place at River Hills Cemetery followed by interment at St. Mary Cemetery in Chicago, IL. For additional information: 630-554-3888.
