This is in response to the editorial “Alan Keyes, himself” (Sept. 2).
Alan Keyes is running for the U.S. Senate not the Illinois Senate, which means that “O’Hare expansion” or “economic development in Cairo” are not the main issues for him to worry about. Since he hasn’t been elected yet, he can’t do anything about those issues anyway. His main concern and our main concern is how will he represent Illinois in federal legislative issues, not necessarily local issues only. Yes we are concerned about what pork he can bring home to Illinois, but we are more concerned about the federal laws that will be created by the upcoming sessions of Congress and how our senators will vote on those issues.
Alan Keyes has been very clear on where he stands on the issues, which is a lot more than I can say about most other politicians today. He is letting Illinois know exactly where he stands and how he will vote on the issues that will affect Illinois and the country. I for one believe that Alan Keyes is a brilliant man and that this “marriage” is one that is made in heaven not hell.
The Illinois Republican Party and the people of Illinois need to get behind this man. There is no real reason the Republicans should lose Illinois.
