Many have suggested that it is now pointless to buy a landline phone, as everyone uses cell phones. It does seem that anyone under age 40 now uses only a cell phone, and those who still have landlines rarely answer them. This, then, calls to question the validity of most polls, which are conducted by calling people who have, and answer, landlines.

As the daughter of a woman who loved to recall voting for Harry Truman when everyone said she was throwing away her vote, it’s interesting to wonder if, after this election, the pollsters will become as obsolete as landlines.
