A look at NFL fantasy football happenings heading into Week 2
Who’s hot
Quentin Griffin, Denver: Clinton who? The Broncos’ shifty and speedy running back made Denver fans quickly forget about the departed Clinton Portis after he gained 156 yards, scored two rushing touchdowns and caught a TD pass against Kansas City last week.
Who’s cold
Willis McGahee, Buffalo: McGahee blew his first chance to shine when he split the carries with Travis Henry in the second half against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He gained just 31 yards on nine carries.
Pick him up
David Terrell, Chicago: With Marty Booker gone to Miami, Terrell emerged as the Bears’ No. 1 receiver with a league-high 126 receiving yards and five receptions against the Detroit Lions last week.
Drop him
Jay Fiedler, Miami: Fiedler lost his starting job to A.J. Feeley after completing 5 of 12 passes for 42 yards with no TDs and two INTs before being pulled at halftime of the Dolphins’ loss to Tennessee.
Start him
Tom Brady, New England: After throwing for 335 yards and three TDs last week against Indianapolis, which had the fifth-ranked pass defense in 2003, the quarterback should have no problem against the pass-defense-challenged Arizona Cardinals.
Bench him
Duce Staley, Pittsburgh: The running back will have a hard time getting yards against the Baltimore Ravens’ tough run defense on the road.
