Dolores “Dodie” S. Mitchell, 78, of Salem, WI, died on Sunday, Sept. 12, 2004 at the Aurora Medical Center, Kenosha, WI. Born Aug. 9, 1926 in Oak Park, IL, she was raised in Chicago, was a resident of Zion, IL for more than 20 years and then moved to Salem, WI. Dolores was a graduate of Lake Forest College and prior to raising her family she was a chemist, and in later years she became a certified nurses’s aid and worked in home health care. She was a loving mother, an avid gardener, a friend of animals and an independent spirit. Survived by beloved daughter, Ann (Jeffrey Bantz) Mitchell of Chicago; beloved son, Lewis (Lisa) Mitchell of Lisle, IL; four loving grandchildren, Lauren, Tyler, Louisa and Gavin Mitchell; four fond nephews, William and John Andrew Schroeder of Champaign-Urbana, IL, James Schroeder of Fremont, CA and Steven Schroeder of Georgetown, MA; fond niece, Joy Schroeder of West Bend, WI; and her faithful feline friend, Dusty II. Preceded in death by a beloved brother, Millard Schroeder; and her parents, William and Stella Schroeder. A lakeside memorial service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004 at 11:30 a.m. in Salem, WI (meet at the Salem United Methodist Church, 25130 85th St., Salem, WI 53168 at 11:15 a.m.), with Rev. J. Michael Solberg officiating.
