In your editorial on bike helmet laws, you use a very unjustified assertion to make your point.
I am neutral on the issue of motorcycle helmets, but I think the ethereal concept you attempt to use to support your editorial point is dangerous and misleading.
You say that public health-care costs are reason enough to create a law requiring use of helmets while riding motorcycles.
But you never cite any data to prove that crashes of helmetless riders cost the public more than crashes of riders wearing helmets.
Without such data you mislead the public by asserting your point without any attribution to back it up.
