Both my father and brother ride motorcycles and they do wear helmets.
I was never aware that Illinois does not require the use of a helmet while riding a motorcycle.
I strongly agree with the writer of this editorial that motorcycle helmets should be required.
Riding a motorcycle can be harmful enough by itself and riding without a helmet would be a death wish.
With all of the charts showing motorcycle deaths decreasing after helmets were required, it would be a great idea for Illinois to require motorcyclists to wear a helmet.
Motorcycles are supposed to be the cool ride to have for people my age, but of course it’s not cool to wear a helmet.
So is it supposed to be cool to ask for death because you want to ride a motorcycle without a helmet?
No, I think requiring riders to wear a helmet is the best thing for Illinois to do.
