“Don’t listen to anybody who’s trying to bring you down. There’s so much negativity in the world. If you really want something, then you go for it.”
–Singer Ryan Cabrera talked to Q about staying upbeat while following one’s dreams. He has followed his all the way to the recent release of his debut CD, “Take It All Away.”
Cabrera, 22, was psyched about seeing his first CD in stores. “Honey, I was there,” he gushed. As for his fans, “Love ’em! Love ’em!” And getting up on stage isn’t frightening, it’s a thrill. “I get so excited, you don’t want to be backstage with me!”
His family is supportive of his success, too, he said–though his parents weren’t thrilled when he dropped out of his first year of college to pursue music, and “when I locked myself in my room and practiced scales all day.” But “now they’re loving it.”
Not everyone who tries will become a pop star, allowed Cabrera, who lives in L.A. “But if you really want to do it, you’ve got to give it a shot at least. And eventually God will lead you to what you’re meant to do.”
