Olympic gymnast Steve McCain thrives on living in the now–and in the near feature, he’ll be doing it in Chicago.
“I’m so excited to go on tour!” said the 30-year-old, who was an alternate on the men’s team in Athens. “You don’t get scrutinized like when you’re competing. You can just be in the moment and enjoy it, because there aren’t so many rules.”
McCain will show off his rings skills in the 2004 T.J. Maxx Tour of Gymnastics Champions, which hits 38 cities and arrives at UIC Pavilion Oct. 16 (call 312-413-5740). But don’t expect him to show off his Olympic rings tattoo, which he got after the Sydney Games–it’s “a bit below my waistline on the left-hand side,” and out of sight to the curious fan. But you won’t miss the grin on his face.
