Ernest L. Sparrow, 87, of Glenwood, formerly of Oak Park, former husband of Mary Evelyn Sparrow (Peter) McGreehin; loving father of Jane (James) Himmel of Flossmoor and Chicago, Anne (Jack) Murphy of California, Donna (Kenneth) Muehlbacher of Mokena, Susan (Chuck) Fellios of Mokena and Nancy (Bill) Baker of Thornton; dear grandfather of David, Eric and Steven Himmel, Michelle and Katie Murphy, Christopher Grossnickle, Nickolas Sherrick, Andrew Muelbacher, Elizabeth and Theodore Fellios; cherished great-grandfather of four. Mr. Sparrow was a World War II Army Veteran, a Retired U.S. Post Service worker and former Chicago Tribune Mail Service Department staff member. An avid baseball fan and long suffering Chicago Bear fan. He enjoyed Classical Violin and Musical Theater and as recently as last week, contemplated taking up Bowling. Visitation will be at the Tews Funeral Home, 18230 S. Dixie Hwy., Homewood, Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 12 noon. Interment will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
