Regarding E. Alfred Johnson’s comments about us “dunderheads” who live in Florida (Voice of the People, Sept. 15), it should logically follow that “dunderheads” who have lost everything in Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas and Nebraska due to tornadoes should repay the much needed money they receive in federal funds.

The same goes for those “dunderheads” who live in wildfire-prone areas of the West and have their lives shaken by fires. And the “dunderheads” who live in the paths of earthquakes and volcanoes on the Pacific Coast. And the “dunderheads” who live in the way of the occasional monster blizzard in the Northeast.

If the government forced people to build their new houses in Johnson’s town of Troy, Mich., instead of in these danger zones, maybe Johnson would be happier.
