A. Wayne Snyder, 80, of Fort Harrison, IN, formerly of Villa Park, IL. Wayne, was born on Feb. 17, 1924 in McCallsburg, IA, and passed away on Sept. 21, 2004, in Indianapolis, IN. He worked for Commonwealth Edison Electric Company for 40 years, retiring as Chief Engineer. He served extensively as a member of the Armed Guard as a gunner’s mate in the US Navy during WWII. Wayne was a member of Castleton Christian Church in Indianapolis, and Calvary United Methodist Church in Villa Park. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite, Medinah Shrine, and a past Master of Villa Park Masonic Lodge, and was also a 33 degree Mason. Wayne, was also a member of the Villa Park VFW Post. He ran the Chicago Marathon when he was 62. Services in Indianapolis, will be held on Friday, Sept. 24, 2004 at 11 a.m. at Castleton Christian Church, with calling on Thursday, Sept. 23, 2004 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Flanner & Buchanan Lawrence Funeral Center. A committal service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 25, 2004 at 11 a.m. at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery in Illinois. Wayne, was preceded in death by his sister, Ilene Lloyd; and a grandson, Marty Dombro. He is survived by his wife, Lorraine, nee Goyke, Snyder; three daughters, Carol (Jim) Hoffmann, Holly (Richard) Hammer, Laurel (Jim) Schiller; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
