I couldn’t agree more with Mike Downey’s assessment of Barry Bonds as the greatest hitter of a generation. I believe he is the greatest player of all time and the unquestioned National League MVP. Pujols, Rolen — forget about it. Bonds is carrying the Giants on his back singlehandedly. He has no supporting cast besides J.T. Snow and Jason Schmidt, while the Cubs have a slew of “superstars.”
I do believe there is a media bias without a doubt and an element of racism, as Downey mentioned.
As of this date Bonds is 40 years old and is hitting .374, has 43 homers, 99 RBIs, 213 walks from teams afraid to pitch to him, 36 strikeouts, a .611 on-base percentage and a slugging percentage of .826. Bonds is the best of all time, period.
