When the sculpture to Bears founder George Halas was unveiled, the absence of Mike Ditka was so obvious. However, I thought it useless to complain to anyone, knowing it probably was the work of Michael McCaskey. I am delighted to see Rick Morrissey have the courage to address it publicly (Tribune, Sept. 23).
No rationalization on the part of the McCaskey family could justify this omission. But Mike Ditka is a class act and way beyond the smallness of this kind of action. Michael McCaskey’s name is not a household word in Chicago, but Ditka’s sure is.
