Chuck Johnson was born in Chicago, Feb. 24, 1951 to Charles and Frances Johnson. He died peacefully in his Bensenville home on Sept. 13, 2004. Chuck was raised in Decatur, MI. He worked as a mental health technician at MacNeal Hospital. He also worked at Riveredge Hospital. Chuck recieved his Master of Social Work degree at George Williams College June 1979. Chuck worked for Leyden Township Schools in the early 80’s. He started at R.E.A.L. School Sept. 1985. The program was renamed Maple Park Academy. Chuck worked their until his death. Chuck enjoyed many of the Arts. He had a passion for reading. He had a large book collection. Chuck’s literary and film knowledge was much sought after by those who knew him. He enjoyed old-time radio shows. Chuck always kept music nearby. Jazz and Classical were two of his favorites. Chuck is survived by his sister, Joyce Wiles; cousins, Mary Horn and Ginny Reynolds and several nieces and a nephew. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2004, at Maple Park Academy, 6740 W. Montrose Ave., Harwood Heights, IL 60706, 708-867-8732.
