Jeanne made landfall in just about the same spot as Hurricane Frances exactly three weeks before. Besides this, Jeanne was an odd hurricane in other regards. The storm remained poorly organized and weak through much of its lifetime, yet caused massive destruction and loss of life. It had an uncanny knack for hitting landeincluding Puerto Rico, Hispaniola, the Bahamas and Floridaewhile moving in an unpredictable manner. As Jeanne made its loop in the open Atlantic Ocean, it was deemed “no threat to land,” and all warnings were dropped.
