Harold “Bobby” Constantine Vakos, 71, of Naperville, beloved husband of Harriet, nee Frangos; loving father of Irina (Sacha) Drazien, John, Michael (Claudia) and Maria (Fiance Todd Papaleo); proud grandfather of Dominic and Nathaniel Vakos; gentle brother of Catherine (Charlie) Banks and the late Harry (the late Cleo) Vakos; cherished son of the late John and Emily Vakos; brother-in-law, nephew, cousin, godfather and loyal friend to many. Born in Racine, Wisconsin. Graduated Horlick High School in 1951 and the University of Wisconsin, Madison in 1955. Served in the U.S. Air Force. Brilliant chemical engineer, distinguished professional career including a patent, talented baseball player, gifted pianist and accomplished baritone singer with the Chicago Symphony Chorus and Church Choirs, witty writer, and storyteller, deep pride in his Greek heritage, above all he cherished his lifelong friendship and family relationships. Resting at Chapel Hill Gardens West Funeral Home, Chris J. Balodimas Funeral Director, 17W201 Roosevelt Rd. (Just West of Rt 83) Oakbrook Terrace on Wednesday, September 29 from 3 to 9 p.m. Friends are asked to meet on Thursday, September 30 at Holy Apostles Greek Orthodox Church, 2501 S. Wolf Rd, Westchester for 10 a.m. Service. Interment Chapel Hill Gardens West.
